Introduction: Maternal medications may affect the production and safety of breast feeding. Most commonly used medications are safe but each should be investigated if used during breast feeding.
Material &methods: This study was done in descriptive method in order to determine the level of awareness of general practitioners and interns(medical student) of Yasuj city about indications and contraindications of drug consumption during lactation.
In this study 60 general practitioners and 28 interns were interviewed( questionaire, consisting 20 questions about drugs in lactation).
Results :It was determined that there is no significant statistical difference between awerness of practitioners , interns and between awareness of practitioners and years of post graduation.(P>0.5)
The awareness of general practitioners and interns is not desirable and this awareness has not significant relation with years of post graduation and reinstruction state.
Coclusion ;It is necessary that educational programs of universities for collegers and graduated practitioner to be reviewed
