
Dr. Sheikh Children's Hospital's Department of Emergency Medicine provides 24-hour care and is one of the most active ward of the hospital. This ward is equipped with 30 beds and includes of: triage room, doctor's office and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) room. In hospital emergency departments, triage is done by a specialized triage nurse and physician as soon as possible after a patient arrives.
Patients are allocated a triage category based on the time in which they need medical attention.
The ward typically deals with patients who suffer from:
Pneumonia, gastroenteritis, hematologic emergencies (pancytopenia, epistaxis, neutropenia, immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), anemia, etc.), urinary tract infection (UTI), seizures, favism, poisonings, surgical emergencies, foreign body aspiration, nephrotic syndrome, meningitis, bronchiolitis, etc.
